Nature’s Bench

I created a bench concept. This piece was inspired by an exhibit that I had seen at San Francisco MOMA, where they had a room full of different chairs and benches. Some were traditional, and others were quite extreme. I came out of it wanting to create my own unique chair. I had leftover wood in my backyard from past projects that I wanted to repurpose for this project. Using Google SketchUp, I designed the foundational elements of how I wanted my bench to look, assessing its features and dual function as a place to sit and as a plant potter. Once I had finalized my foundational concept, I measured each piece of wood and cut it so they were all the correct dimensions. After cutting all the wood, I put the bench together and sanded it down to achieve a cleaner look before painting.
